Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Extreme disrespect

I think I deserved more than two minutes of their time it took to tell me that they don’t need me anymore after all these years.
I don't think that the world revolves around me or that I deserve some special treatment in this company, but... Do the layoffs of the most loyal employees have to be done with such cold hearted approach?

My sympathy goes to the OP. I find this alarming and extremely disrespectful. I can share that this is unfortunately not new, nor confined to the US. At a prior RA, and in a Nordic country the SO (Strategic Outsourcing) IBMers were being asked to all show up in the office and cancel any out of the office calls or meetings that particular day. They all sat and waited and watched in the office while managers came and called people by name (to be told shortly after they were fired and escorted out of the premises). Even the people that stayed on in the company had to watch this. At another incidence people were fired by email and sometimes by a manager they never had met.

I find this arrogant, disrespectful and very far from what ol' Watson would have approved. Anybody here remember "respect for the individual". I certainly do!

RA didn’t happen but PIP is ongoing. Maybe the poster got the PIP call. Trying to give large benefit of doubt.

This is all same poster doing fake posts. No layoffs. Where is the board moderator to block this person?

I understand how you feel, but what can you expect from a dying discriminative company?
The job market is pretty good, I am sure you will find something much better! Hang in there.
