Seem like they will hire people back. Even whole families. What is up with the nepotism here? Weird.

My observation is that over last 20 years GE HC layoffs have occurs at July 4 and Thanksgiving..
But agree GE HC will have layoffs.
The bloodletting will occur later in year, enjoy your summer. Keep in mind GE would prefer not to pay unemployment or severance to employees so the hope is that many will "self eject" prior to the merger - already happening. Zone structure and associated bloated headcount (ie redundant non-contributing functions across U.S.) will be eliminated as a first pass.
Leave on good terms before the spin-off, when the new biz chokes you can return if you miss the fun
