Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

No growth

I don’t see that leadership has any good and concrete plan for growth. Lately, I've been thinking more and more about going to a growing company, even a smaller one. We could have a long discussion why there is no more growth at TR and what are all the reasons behind it, right?

The BU I am part of has not seen total customer growth since I started. That is we loose the same amount of clients we gain year over year.

It’s been flat for years. Now they are squarely focused on price increases and retention efforts. New sales have been pi-s poor at best.

New products! Ha! Don’t make me laugh. We are too big and complex that we have no way to sell them if we wanted to. And the field wants to sell them.

It’s a horrible situation. Same old products for 4 years now.

Leadership is disjointed and there is no vision. Just ride the wave while you can.

It’s a real issue, especially because the younger generation thinks that Westlaw should be free. Why should a company profit from court and legal information that should all be freely accessible to the public?

Maybe their new idea of hiring a 'pricing' analyst to raise prices will work. Then maybe we will get a raise to match inflation? Nah, the Big Dogs will just keep more for themselves. Nice try though.

All quite simple really. If leadership doesn’t have “any good and concrete plan for growth” then you have two options. Either you get new leadership - realistically, I can’t see that happening, or life continues as per usual with the same leadership team. As for why this is occurring, this is probably best summed up with the old saying, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”
