Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

It’s awful how many people are leaving

I have never, in almost eight years of being here, seen so many people leaving. What makes it even scarier is that a lot of those who are leaving were very comfortable working here. Why are so many people leaving?

not in cedar park. our culture is show up late, use all your PTO, (and you can still take time off during the year). Oh you didn’t stop work and broke a machine? it’s ok. don’t have time to make parts for our customers because you are playing co-----e? it’s ok. management says nothing. it is great here.

Anyone who finds a better opportunity outside should leave immediately. NOV used to be a very good company but those days are gone. Inflation is increasing every year but the paycheck remains the same. Ridiculous.

The only person that won’t leave rides a Segway. Even his bosses demoted him and he doesn’t get it. I heard him say what else can the do to me. I loves it he feels like he is untouchable now ……crazy, like a government job wIth democrats …,

I left in because NOV went from being a place where we cared for each other to a farce which they said was a global family. They allow upper management to intimidate employees rather than foster leadership and accountability. From a sales perspective we couldn’t sell our own product because manufacturing is a mess and continues to be horrible. I was sad to leave but it was the best thing for my mental health.

This company is on its own fire bed!
It will go down in flames if they are raising prices on over priced doo doo as is.
The hemorrhoids at top of this company are only using its once good reputation to make the greedy more so!
This place is the most horrid place Ive ever worked at. Waste of time almost. Only came here to support my children at the time. It worked well but this party is over and my kids are off of everything. Time to run!

Huge corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to care about investors and return on investment only, nothing else matters. If they can squeeze employees 401k or pay less or cut benefits to protect the investors that is what they are required to do.

Why anyone would ever feel loyalty or stick around at a place like NOV after years of "tightening belts" and taking hits for the goal of protecting some investors and capital ruling class elites sitting on a yacht that's never seen a rig before.

Is NOV going to have a good year this year and take care of you when they could reward shareholders instead? Haha. Loyalty is boomer shìt when there were pensions and you could own a home by working hard. That isn't today's world.

At will employment works both ways boys. Make them earn you.

I am two "titles" below where I was at NOV but earning over 25% more. One of the biggest regrets I have, is that I stayed at NOV too long. True story

With laid off in 2016 and now make $15,000 more a year than then. I just work an office administration job. Best thing that ever happened was to get laid off at NOV. I come here to read about the chickens coming home to roost. I was treated like garbage in the layoff and will never forget.

Years without raises, political games, tired of NOV taking all the perks away ( overtime, bonuses, double time, 401k match, company trucks, etc…) no opportunity to move up, tired of management treating them like prisoners, tired of managements empty promises, lies and lack of integrity! What once was a great company has been driven into the ground by greed. Dedicated/loyal employees are treated like they are expendable. Its not really that hard to figure out. But its ok they say they have people lined up to come to work, yet they are understaffed and borrow employees from other departments/facilities.
