Thread regarding Ford layoffs

OK to fib to a small group of customers? Reputation earned or burned?

Much like several other vehicles in The Blue Oval’s current lineup, the refreshed 2022 Ford Focus is facing its own fair share of production issues related to supply chain constraints. The 2022 Focus launched without its new 13.2-inch infotainment screen earlier this year due to problems sourcing necessary components from Ukraine, which also prompted Ford to delay the new Focus ST in Australia, as it comes with that feature as standard equipment. Now, the limited-edition flagship Ford Focus ST-3 is reportedly being delivered to Australian customers without some of its promised features as well, according to CarExpert.

Multiple Ford Focus ST-3 owners have reported taking delivery of their vehicles without certain promised features present, including a heated steering wheel, launch control, and ambient lighting, though those features were advertised as standard equipment on the new model. Some of those customers contacted Ford Australia after discovering that these features were missing and were presented with a compensation offer, while at least one was told that the features weren’t available on the ST-3, even though press materials for the vehicle indicated that they would be.

Additionally, Ford was supposed to build 200 examples of the Ford Focus ST-3, but wound up producing just 63 as it transitioned to 2022 Focus production amid numerous COVID-19 and supply chain-related delays.

“A very small number of customers have raised concerns about certain features on their Focus ST-3, which were not included in any marketing material for the model line,” a Ford Australia spokesperson said in a statement. “Ford is taking those concerns seriously and working with each customer to address to their satisfaction. Any customer with concerns is asked to contact Ford customer service.”

Who cares about Focus. Nine of the vehicles outside NA makes money.

We don’t care about missing features, as long as we can sell them a subscription for something.

Looking forward to seeing data sales broken out as a line item in the financial statements!

Don't know much about "down under", but I am sure there should be some laws regarding false advertising. At least in America, that is illegal and can lead to fines and a lawsuit.
