Fidelity Manager warnings

I am a VBO employee, but have a younger friend that was hired at Fidelity about 2 years ago- he moved to a branch role about 5 months ago.. He has a new boss that came from the outside, and has been giving written and verbal warnings to reps since he came into the branch 7 months ago. My friend just received an or-l warning — stated he said he needs to work with team and be client obsessed. Anyone explain the process on warnings at Fidelity? And aren’t the managers supposed to be putting together plan to help employees improve? This is an entry level role and was never trained on anything, came from service center. My friend is quite concerned and not sure what to do. He has had a few RMs in branch complain that my friend has gave some push back on things they should be doing. I know there are some managers out there, just looking from some feedback to help my friend over come the unknown. Thanks for the feedback.

If it gets there……Fight the PIP! Here is a link from an HR attorney’s website. They use the PIP to push you out. Don’t make it easy for them. This website teaches you all the ways to push back against your manager and HR. Good Luck!

It's just a writteng managerial warning, so it does trigger anything on the HR side. However... If the manager decides to go the HR route this warning can be used to justify the HR action later on. So, it's serious without making it process heavy and without HR involved.

I think that your friend is at a performance crossroads. (a) He/she has an option to try to explan to this manager that he/she is doing good work and that this managers warning is not valid (I think there is zero chance this is going to be successful). (b) Your friend has an option to do all things the manager requires, do them in the best possible way, follow up with the manager to make sure all is good and move on (I am sure that he/she can do all things required with ease - I've worked at a branch and all things are doable).

It is a good idea, unfortunately its half way across the country. He moved for this role and now feels stuck. Thanks for responding.

Your friend should connect with their manger from their prior role. If they have a good relationship and did well previously there may be an opportunity to going back to a regional center role as they are still so busy.
