Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

NOV is full of toxic people

All of you who hate NOV because of its toxic culture are turning into the thing you hate the most. This place is now overflowing with bullies. No, I'm not talking about management. Most of them were and remain as-----s, there was no change there. I'm talking about regular employees who have morphed into a hateful mass that only looks how to put others around it down. What the he-l happened to you all?

It all started with keibler and flowers running service into the ground. Then came Rafael ignoring pretty much everything pertaining to his job. Waste of space, waste of resources, waste of money. Fraud, waste and abuse is the NOV culture now.

It’s starts at the top and is reinforced by the mall cops. They have the exact culture that they want.

It is a NOV problem in particular. Look and listen to those that have left and are happy with their new environments. I don’t know anyone that has left on their own or through a RIF that is saying they would like to come back.

Management is to blame for the culture as they are to worried about their pay and positions. They have grown up through the ranks thinking that they are managing through fear as a manager should.

Here in manufacturing (downhole) it is obvious that those that are harsh survive. Those that actually believe us the workers are true worth of the company leave.

Look at all the manufacturing sites in downhole and you see a steady stream leave while out KPis keep showing it doesn’t work. If we don’t provide a rosy picture to operations about production we are told to get in line. We have been provided tools such as Power Bi to help show production numbers. Numbers don’t lie. When you remove the key people numbers go down. The leader is the one telling us employees to sugar coat the story to sales and operations. Every week in our meetings we force feed pure lies knowing that if we don’t our necks are the line.

This is happening everywhere to all levels.

The generation before us got to show up to the same type jobs. Work minimum wage and pay for a college education. Put in a full day of work then go home to a house they owned with a stay at home wife and kids.

This generation working the same or more complex jobs gets to work a hard day, go home with a spouse or partner also working full time to a house they rent because investors own all the homes as assets and capital instead of things humans live in. Both worked a full day and still need to maintain the house and any kids. All of their income is sucked up in insane housing, student loans, medical debt from a random injury. Then turn on the news get called lazy and entitled by the generation before them and told to lay off the avocado toast and propogandized to by the ruling class about everyone to blame and all of the people they should hate (illegal immigrants, regulations, baby eating liberals, etc).

They either are smart enough to see the ruling class bu-----t and know there is nothing to do about it.

Or they are stupid enough to believe all the propoganda and become angry at whatever they are supposed to that week.

Either way, the American dream is long gone and nobody is happy about it except a few dozen billionaires. Working hard and coming home to a house with kids and building a better life for them and being optimistic about the future is gone.

Of course that frustration is going to come out day to day at people's miserable jobs. One of the few things they can still try to control when everything has been taken from them.

They became a product of their environment.

That's what happens in long-term incarceration.
