I know of two people who left Citrix in the last six months to join VMware. One of them is already regretting that decision. I still can't wrap my head around somebody leaving for another company and not doing proper research on it. It's enough to visit VMware forum on this site to see that they have all the problems we have and then some. Please, if you're planning to leave, don't make the same mistake. Yes, Citrix is bad, but there's no point in leaving just to find yourself in the same or even worse situation.

Citrix name is going away soon. Will be shortened to Trix.
Personally, the only research that will provide any truth on how another company is doing, is by having a reference. All your research and awards wont mean much. Look at Citrix been shown as one of the best to work for. If you have a friend in another place, then you can get the real idea of what is good and what is bad. Otherwise is a gamble, but to me, why not gamble when the current situation already sucks. Its not that you are leaving a company that is stable and with a bright future.
Last post is 100% correct
Think avaya or nortel. Gone to the dustbin
Hold onto your Citrix swag. Gonna be a collectors item some day
Citrix is a dead company ; trust me be involved since the company was founded
Almost 30 years ago . Name will he gone in 2 years.
I think a lot of people missed the point of my post. I didn't say to not leave Citrix, I just said to do proper research before you do to make sure you improve instead of worsening your position. There are plenty of places that are better than Citrix. My point was to do due diligence and find those instead of jumping on the first opportunity that presents itself. That's it.
Both suck
I think the OP was just using VMWare as an example. There was a thread last week from someone thinking of going to Cisco. Same as VMWare, the advice from me and a few others was to do due diligence. Citrix might be a rough place to work these days but it's not going to ki-l you to stay in place for a few months until you find a job you really want, not one you think you need. VMWare is a big company so with them in particular, do check all you can into the group you'll be in and see if it is an actual good fit. Otherwise, send out some resumes and keep working your existing job leads and interviews.
Citrix isn't the worst place to work, by far. You can hang out there for a while searching for something truly better.
I left Citrix early this year and joined VMWare. Every area may be different but for me everything has been better. The one and only thing Citrix was better was the medical insurance premium. Aside from that, I am getting better pay, 3x the bonus, less work, management that cares, a team that truly enjoys their work and been part of a team, my immediate management is very involved, and the overall culture is miles and miles better. This is what Citrix used to feel 7 years ago.
VMware is the same stale corporate BS as at Citrix. Why you’d want to leave just to go there is beyond me.
Clearly a Citrix HR Troll :)
This is the most ridiculous comment. I don’t know anyone who has regretted the decision to leave Citrix. If anything they wonder why they didn’t do it sooner. Citrix is the bottom of the barrel only up after leaving.
What a bullocks comment on vmware. I know several people that went to VMware and they are perfectly happy there.
The high ammount of employees leaving Citrix is giving the company's troubles and referal bonuses for new employees has tripled to cover.
Would not be surprised if HR is trying too control the not so in favor of Citrix messaging here.
