Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

VBO

I’ve heard rumors floating around VBO will be offered yearly beginning 2023. Has anyone else heard this?

I firmly believe Fidelity was a better company to work for when Ned was in charge. For the long term sake of the company, he should have gone outside the family and put Bob Reynolds in charge. But who would be that ruthless and spurn their child like that?
Nothing against Abby, but I just don't see the leadership qualities.

Agree- “D&I” is mostly a check box, sadly. But even for the companies who spout how D&I they are, age isn’t part of it. (btw— if you have to profess so loudly to anyone about how D&I you are, there’s your first clue)

Pernicious myopia.

Meh even the D&I is a check the box exercise. I would like these leaders to walk the talk before barking down at us. Look at Abbie's directs. I don't see any non-white peeole there. Look at their directs as well...you can count the minorities on one hand. As usual, it's 'do as I say' not 'do as I do' form of leadership at Fidelity.

It’s their MO, bc age isn’t part of their (or many others’j definition of “D&I.” All driven by the bottom line and exploiting loopholes to beef it up, most often at the expen$e of great, loyal and yes, older workers (out with the old & expensive, in w young and cheaper.) I’d be surprised if they didn’t keep pulling the vbo move until someone finally nails the age loophole shut. Wonder if all this karmic bs is worth it? All the $ lost with vbo payouts for expensive older workers who take valuable intellectual capital and exp with them, traded for young, inexperienced and cheaper labor which costs a ton to up skill etc? Doesn’t make long term sense, but sadly it seems to be the norm now across the board.

can't wait to hear what the millennials say when they're older when the gen-z crowd doesn't want to work and they will have to carry the torch longer and the boomers are retired an enjoying life.

Michael, boomers at Fidelity can put millennials in their back pockets. Boomers made Fidelity what it is today sweetheart. Boomers are hoping you can carry our water bottles while we drink martinis on the beach.

There are a lot of boomer, non-digital, against diversity and inclusion and change generally who need to be shown the door...aka the non freaky people.

I hope to god they do. Fidelity is flush with cash - even Abby's net worth has doubled during the pandemic.
