Thread regarding Manulife Financial Corp. layoffs

It's been a year since I got laid off

It was really awful when I got laid off. Now, after a year, I think that's the best thing that could have happened to me. But honestly, I’d love to come back here just for one day to see if anything has changed for the better during that year?

The only regret I have is the timing as was still well into pandemic. Much easier to find job now. What’s really annoying is pieces on Marianne’s “leadership “ during the pandemic. Laying off hundred’s without notice on teams in the middle of a pandemic is not leadership. Completely tone deaf.

Feb 2021 layoffee here - was originally so disappointed, but with some hindsight, I'm glad I was forced out. I'm glad I'm not still working there but I probably wouldn't have had the courage to leave myself. I would also love to be a fly on the wall, though, and see what's happened to the place in the year since.

I was also laid off last year. I've heard it is an absolute shitshow right now. They did a reshuffle of the execs, took sales on a retreat, and the rest is just a total mess. Laid off is the best thing that could have happened.
