The Optum workers compensation division has several departments like RX, Ancillary, Settlement Solutions services, etc. On 5/19 the entire nationwide sales departments for Settlement and Ancillary were laid off which came out of nowhere. Other employees in the WC division were also laid off including some marketing specialists and others. I have spoken to several laid off workers who all conveyed a sense of shock. Some of them mentioned long term attrition had been going on and management seemed to be intentionally trying to drive as many people out as possible for a while by drastically increasing workloads and changing the commission plan to make it punitive.
