VP Retention Bonus

I’ve heard that in a special ‘Town Hall’ last week that all VMware VPs (regardless of tenure) were advised that they’d be getting a significant retention bonus for ‘navigating’ the rest of us through the acquisition. That sucks for those of us in more junior leadership roles who’ll actually be doing the hard work day to day.

Special vesting and severance is not a retention bonus.

This is true. Special vest and severance.

Please share your level if you are not a VP/above and have received a retention bonus. Thanks.

Not only VP and above! That’s all I can say.

We should ask them on the next all hands. Excellent question!

Can confirm that VPs are getting one year severance and accelerated rsu vest. Remember that when they say we are in it together

confirmed by two VPs and one PE. "change of control" RSUs for VP+ and PE+. Triggered if the person is let go in connection with the acquisition.
VP/PE+ only calls are quite common at VMware. Those aren't "special meetings" but happen for pretty much any major announcement.

Completely inaccurate. No VP is going to voluntarily resign between now and close. There is no need to offer retention to any VP or above. Ask your friends at CA and Symantec how many VP’s quit before the deal closed? The answer is not one!

Unless you have actual first hand proof I would call BS on any "special meetings"
