Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Boss has been MIA

Just what the title says, boss has been MIA. Not answering messages or showing up to meetings... Have a feeling that my or his end is near. 😅 Anyone elses leadership MIA?

Agreed, it's just unfortunate because I'm new and feel like bad luck Brian. Kind of left to fend for myself. Taking the power back and applying for jobs. Just sucks after months of interviews...

He's smart. He's working on his resume and sending it out and applying for external jobs. This is exactly what everyone in your team should be also doing. He's sending you a message that the team is not going to survive after the take over. So while he still has a job, he is looking externally. You should also do the same. If you have all your performance reviews with what you did during the past years, use that as a guide to write your resume. Write what you've done in the past 10 year. Make sure you include as many key words as possible since computers are the first ones to read your resume and forward it to an actual person after they found many key words that fit the job description. And while you still have a job, if there is a learning website, start taking as many training courses as you can to refresh your skills. Interviews are very competitive these days. Most people do find a job, even if it takes six months like a guy in my old group who was 60 years old, but found a job that was not remote. But pays the bills.

My boss continues to steal my work so he can use it to position himself better. No doubt he’d sacrifice the team to save himself I once layoffs begin. He refuses to discus the acquisition and is just in general not a good person. I don’t expect any support but had planned to leave even before the news. Place is overly toxic and riddled with incompetent people managers.

Yes, my VP just took two weeks off after taking quite a few days this year already. Keeps saying to keep the lights on and that’s it…

depends on how high up he is.. Is he a director? A Sr manager?
Is he a favorite of a VP or depended on for specific info?

Go shop is over. The VPs are now busy making presentations to present to Broadcom (in their specific format). Imagine breaking down you BU, Products, revenue, employees in each product, revenue per product, diff between traditional and ARR, etc...

He (She/Xe/Them/It/whatever) may be busy...

Typical VMWare communications - message or email. Try picking up the phone and calling the boss and asking if all is OK?
