Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Anxious about layoffs

If anyone has any insight into whether there will be layoffs soon, please share. There is a very tense atmosphere in my store and the uncertainty is really bothering me.

@9qci+1hCyv01N:

I also worked for Kmart/Sears holding and Target now for 5 years. Say whatever you want. There is absolutely no resemblance in anything happening at Target to Kmart. None, zero nothing! That what 20 years of slow antoganizing disaster.

We’ve got a couple of folks at our store that each had close to 20 years with Kmart, there til the bitter end. Both are extremely nervous, a lot of what Target is doing now is what they saw then in that final year before Kmart made the public announcement that it could not compete anymore.

Don’t worry the company will see negative eps soon.

Don’t worry about layoffs, way worse times are coming for those who stay put in the shithole.

Money can’t buy character. If you take inspiration from crooks, you become one too.

Same with Salt Lake City, a bunch of our managers have told us to start wrapping loose ends up.

Maybe they are referring to the restructuring. Will we still be given severance though? If so how much?

Same with Nashville TN, couple of our stores are going to get some HC reduction. Our managers have been warning us about the times ahead.

It’s shocking that this is the platform where I am learning about layoffs, why can’t the company send a notification so people can better prepare for their future?

Yup, business restructuring is coming alright. Would be more intense than previously determined. 25% off the HC to account for rising costs.

If you are decent and want to work in retail then why not go to Walmart or Amazon ? These ba----ds were literally scraping the bottom of the pile.

Something tells me targets golden days are gone. Everything seems to be happening like it did for kmart.

Same with Miami FL, our manager just told us in private to start preparing for the worst. We haven’t seen restructuring earlier, but it doesn’t seem to be good.

I think the managers are slowly telling people about the layoffs. It is shady on the part of the company to not send s as company wide memo about this.

The picture in the Dakotas is bleak too. A lot of stores are getting canned.

Restructuring can be ruthless. I think I’d the need be they can easily get rid of 25% in the name of limited restructuring. This way they can focus on the higher foot traffic locations.

My hunch is in the long term, about 90% of the stores will be closed. The head count will be shortened by 80%

Something tells me the company finally realized hood though it is to have this much weight on the head.

Guess is at least 20% are going.

So the store closing begins, was it really worth it? Were the 20 mil dollars really a good investment BC?

Very possible “business restructuring” or what’s called layoffs by q2 earnings call report on Aug 17. You can definitely expect staff trimming around this date since q2 GDP sentiment will be very low. Start having backup plan. If you’re not gone on this wave, it can be next wave when they decide to close select stores.
