Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Long Time Associates And Unfair Pay.

Who else is dealing with being a long time associate with many years under their belt who are still stuck at making $15.30? Why is there no adjustment in pay when new people start out at exactly the same rate or more pay? Is there nothing that associates in this position can do or contact higher up the ladder? I know there will be no satisfaction gained by going to mangers in my club. I don't mind what I'm doing but would loved to be paid my worth and for my years. I am no slack a-s but it gets old having an overflowing workload and not getting what I should be getting for what I give. Things need to change in a big way. You are losing people in a hurry. You are also turning hard workers into I don't care anymore worker who just show up, and pass the time. Can't blame us for feeling this way.

Retail will always be retail. Longevity and experience mean nothing.

If you want to get paid what you are worth and treated the way you want to be treated. Best job for that is one where you only work for yourself and pay yourself.

Walmart wants to get rid of the older workers. Longtime workers are not wanted. We cost them more than the new workers, even with their higher wages.

Sam's Club is no longer a place for anyone to build a career.

Amen. I like my job but it is wrong to bring new people in at the same or higher wage. I work my bu-t off while many just sit around with their thumbs up their butts. What makes matters worse is the new front end peeps chew gum, drink at their stations and also eat. It is pathetic. And then there is the flagrant lack of adhering to the dress code. Our store is a mess....

Don't take this the wrong way, but the only thing you can do in this labor market is peddle your services to somebody else who values you as an employee. When Susan Chambers was head of HR a quote was leaked where she lamented that they had to pay somebody with more experience a higher wage. This company does not care. They consider you an expense rather than an asset, and the fact that you now have more PTO actually makes you a liability in their eyes.

It's probably best to update your resume and start looking for greener pastures. Good luck to you!
