Thread regarding Ford layoffs

It’s been a minute, 2022 Explorer new recall.

Looks like we have to buy some of these Explorers and Aviators back.

Of course, no one held accountable. What a s**t show

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models due to an engine rail safety issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the engine rails may have been improperly heat-treated.

The hazards: improperly heat-treated engine rails may reduce the vehicle’s structural protection in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, an engine rail may detach and contact the road while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: engine rails

Affected vehicles: select 2022 Ford Explorer models built at the Chicago Assembly plant between April 4th, 2022, and May 4th, 2022, as well as certain 2022 Lincoln Aviator models produced from April 4th, 2022, and May 3rd, 2022.

The fix: dealers will perform an engine rail strength test and replace the rails as necessary, free of charge. If the engine rails require replacement, owners will have the option for a vehicle replacement or buyback.

Heard a new term today “Ford Roulette.” It’s where you guess if your Ford will catch fire, drop and engine or windshield, or have engine failure when you enter the car. All you have to do to find out is turn the vehicle on and start to drive.

Clever but devastatingly sad for Ford.

Throw it on the pile with the 44 other recalls affecting over 6 million vehicles this year. Absolutely embarrassing and I'm sure this isn't the last one we'll see by the end of the year. Probably end up recalling more than we sell.
