Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

CIB Operational Risk Team

Does anyone have any info on this team ? They seem to be hiring and is a relatively new team based on my initial investigation. They basically cover CIB from a second line perspective.

However with the recession and potential layoffs not sure how this team will operate and/or get impacted. It seems to be a team filled due to regulatory/Rcsa reasons and not much due to business needs

Any insight will be appreciated

Ops Risk is sending a lot of functions to India. Do you want to train your replacement & be on a team that only sees you potentially as the new person that gets stuck with the bad rating at year end? Seriously, my best advice is look outside the bank.

That’s my guess, not specific to CIB functions for Ops risk or Control either, all of those two functions that are spending significant chunks of their time getting RCSA up and running should be the same. Maintaining/change management by definition should take less time than initial implementation.

So you will have job security for the next 2 to 3 years?

This is a team that will always exist, but to your point many Ops risk and Control teams are staffed up right now due to RCSA implementation. In a more BAU mode, hopefully 2-3 years if WF can actually stick to a plan, should there be some consolidation/displacement? Yes.

JK seems like a decent leader, the team has a few standouts and a bunch of long timers who know a bit about certain segments of the business, but mostly got hired for that knowledge instead of their Ops Risk knowledge as they needed people fast and were hiring for multiple high level roles simultaneously.
