If leaving Ford for a competitor, should you give Ford a 2 week notice? Doesn't Ford ask you to leave right away if working for a competitor, in that case when is the best time to tell Ford so you still get paid until you start your new job??

If you tell them they will walk you out.
what if you give them a 2 weeks notice a day before you start, that way you can get paid from both companies for the next 2 weeks...i wonder if that is even possible.
I would not let Ford know where you are going to. Just give a 2-week notice. Period. I've read far too many stories here where managers tried to sabotage (or actually did) the career of those leaving Ford for better pastures.
No, get your start date. And then tell current employer at last possible minute. Decide if you want to take an in between vacation
If you give a 2 week notice and they walk you out the door they have to pay you for those 2 weeks.
I gave my notice saying I was going to a competitor. I was told to tie up loose ends within an hour and log off when I gave my notice. It was fantastic to have two weeks to recoup and breathe before starting my new role, even though I wasn’t actually going to a competitor.
Ehh HR cuts you off the day you turn in your notice if working for a competitor. I work in the manufacturing side 9f the business
Be sure to provide letter of resignation with two weeks defined and verbally tell your direct supervisor / mgr it is a competitor. Be sure to have all your personal items / files already removed and contact info of co workers secured. You will be walked out and given your two weeks pay, vacation, etc.
I've heard its up to your LL6's discretion and also dependent on what kind of information you have access too and how "replaceable" you are in your role.
When a coworker of mine gave their 2 weeks earlier this year to go to a competitor, they were asked to stop working immediately and went through the off boarding process right away. They still got paid for the following 2 weeks + unused vacation for the year.
