What is worse, loosing your job or being left behind to make up for the knowledge that leaves? Leadership has no plan for meeting those gaps and will hold us accountable when we can't fill the gap.

They will cut off your legs and then be upset with you that you're not running as fast as you did when you still had legs.
These people will be scooped up by suppliers and Ford will give the work to suppliers. So in a way, you will still be working for Ford.
In this case I assume they are dumping anything related to ICE, so workload is going away for good - perhaps a few legacy folks to handle all of the horrible warranty claims.
To be honest there is so little accountability at Ford you will not be held to any higher standard than current, if you remain. They will just start another round of firings in 4 years when plan A, B, C, ....Z doesn't work.
With what had been going on in the past few years, I think the assumptions are:
(1) The present work force produced high cost, low quality products
(2) Continue with the knowledge of the current work force will not improve the future products
So, why would the company want to retain the (BAD) information? Burn it before you leave.
Ford already does a very poor job at retaining information from employees who quit, retire, or are let go. This only exacerbates this issue to an entire other level, which is the same thing that happened during SRD. Maybe if we'd actually train our young talent properly it would be an easier transition. However, this, per usual, is going to be a cluster and leave many gaps in our knowledge and talent base.
Neither option is great. It's going to be brutal for those left behind, because obviously the workload doesn't go away, and then the downstream effects of losing the one person in an area who knew how to do highly specific tasks.
