The train station debacle continues Another 6 million of taxpayers money squandered

Ford taking more money from the government while promising job creation.

From deadlinedetroit

“The long-abandoned Michigan Central Station in Detroit's Corktown is undergoing a major renovation.
Now, to compliment that, the city of Detroit is doing a $6-million remake of Roosevelt Park in front of the station.
The city broke ground Tuesday on the project that will include removal of roadway that splits the park. The project is set to be completed in 2023, according to a press release.
The park will grow from 9.5-acres to 13 after the road removal, and will include a promenade connecting Michigan Avenue to the station, a new pedestrian gateway entrance at Michigan Avenue, walkways, plaza spaces, event lawns, benches and tables.
Five million dollars in funding will come from the American Rescue Plan Act, and the other $1 million from the city's general fund.
The new park will not only benefit southwest Detroit residents, but also the 5,000 people expected to work at Michigan Central, the press release said.
The city released renderings of the renovation.

@iic. Clowns ? More like cunning aristocratic fascists. They know exactly what they are doing. They are preserving their huge wealth and power 'at all costs'. You see socialism is when the govt. overtly 'owns it all', while fascism is where Billy can keep his castle and estates so long as he does exactly what the ruling regime says: Put everyone into an EV, and hurry !

You know, maybe Bill is slashing 8000 heads so he can fund the purchase and renovation of the Packard Proving grounds into a state of the art mobility hub?

I really think this could be it. Don't believe the "funding EV" baloney they are shoveling. We all know Bill wants to be a Detroit legend. This idea could do it.

The train station renovations were supposed to cost $400,000,000 and be completed in 2022 (within months from today). It is nowhere near ready to be occupied, and the costs exceed $ billions.

This is like Srilanka taking Chinese debt to build infrastructure with no ROI. Also moving to organic fertilizers over night is another blunder. All these mistakes led to bankruptcy.

Anyone else feel like clowns are in charge?
Buttigieg leading D.O.T. ? seriously a history/literature major has the skill set for transforming US to EV? Anyone with a modicum of common sense knows you first build a robust infrastructure.
Michigan leaders getting played by Ford right and left.

Where are all the capable, qualified, and experienced leaders?
Seems like they are located in China and Japan.

When the American automakers collapse with this folly, not to worry Japan and Chinese automakers are ready to take over the market.
