Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Rumors floating around HP about migration of HQ

Currently, at the Houston site, no one has access to the top floor of the second building. There is some NDA activity going on but according to security, there is some renovation going on. Hmm... Well a couple of months ago, my coworker from Palo Alto and they told me that HQ is even more abandoned than it was before covid. They mentioned that you wouldn't even know that HP is even there. Currently, five buildings out of eight are leased out to Tesla and the remaining three are leased out to small companies.

Something tells me that we'll probably hear something in August to October about HP moving to Houston just like our server counter partners, HPE. It wouldn't surprise me, given that we are currently finding ways to conserve our budget as we approach a potential economic recession and all of these Californian companies are moving to Texas.

Look out Palo Altans!

I can confirm what was said about the Boise campus. It’s become a ghost town with very few left there. Rumor has it that HP may be completely gone from Boise within a year as its lease expires in early 2023.

Same is happening at the Boise site, merely a miniature shell of once it was. The entire campus was sold to the state of Idaho in January 2018, and HP leased two building since then. But even these building are getting more and more sparsely populated. If you were to drive by the Boise campus now, you likely could even tell that HP is even there.

The ever-shriveling Palo Alto, San Diego, and Boise campuses. Very bad omens for HP employees and the future of HP. Our founders would be so sad to see what's happened to their company.

Definitely wouldn’t shock me. I’ve been to the office once since they opened the Houston one up again back in March. No one in my team is in Houston so the “go to the office to collaborate” doesn’t really hold. There was no one there when I went. My old team has two designated days they go in a month and I know another team goes in once a week. It’s a ghost town in Houston too
