Everyone who worked here through 2007-2008 knows that company is not loyal to anyone of us. So why are some people surprised that there is no job security? This is nothing new, we already knew that. The question is, how does the job security at Ford compare to other companies in the industry?

I was there also and left. Here we go again. Something really wrong with a company that has to go through this every decade or so. For sure not buying their product or investing in the stock!
The answer is very simple and straight forward.
The decision making at 2008 was mainly performance based. Your job can be very secured even under a very difficult time.
In recent years, it is all about who did not participate in friends and family plan. SRD is a layer-by-layer elimination of the 2nd opinion within the organization.
Automotive is extremely volatile in general. Better to go elsewhere. Likely for lower pay.
