Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Could it be better here?

The best have left. Others are looking for a way out because almost no one is happy here. I wonder if it can be any better here? What would have to happen for this to be a good workplace again?

I used to work there until the end of the year. It had become apparent that people who can think out of the box were no longer wanted or tolerated. Funny thing they are the people that makes things happen but with the gospel of automation they only care about automation and forgot that the systems don't work, and many of those who thought out of the box made things happen. Now I see them at other companies like Leidos, Lumen, and Ciena.

The need to revamp hiring, eliminate the deadwood that has just been sitting in band 7-9 for 20 years when it should be up or out. Fire most of IT leadership and unwind the corrupt Infosys and other deals and build a real IT org. Stop moving mediocre leaders at the director level and above around and fire them when they under perform.

stop outsourcing cx service, easier promo applications and corrections, less confusing promos, faster ticket and wfm turnaround times, proper compensation for what the company views as being important products/ plans, higher staff counts, less order and activation failures, greater internal promotion tracks/ hiring from within- no more hiring off of favoritism or someone’s suggestions, hire off of what a candidate brings to the table, less system glitches during processing
