Neither you upskill nor contribute to the bottom line.

@1oer+1hXJu3X1 Seriously “come to a meeting and say nothing” is your standard for someone who is entitled.
I’ve been to meetings where it is abundantly clear that everyone talking are completely incompetent but believe themselves brilliant. My approach is to do a little research on who is sponsoring the related project and if the project is important. If it is worthwhile and the sponsor isn’t a Richard, I put together a detailed solution and plan and provide it to the LL5 sponsor letting them know I am too busy to attend rambling time wasting meetings but would consult when real work is being done.
Precious few meetings at Ford are held with the intent of actually collaborating and accomplishing real work. Most old timers are quite adept at reading the meeting, you might be upset because you can’t fool them
Then at the same time there are some seniors who don’t upskill nor do any work. They feel entitled. Come to a meeting and say nothing. The LL6 gives most of the work to a Agency Guy because he can’t force the senior guy. They want to go to office as soon as possible so that they can join the walking club and start the cooler/coffee machine meetings.
The problem is that todays' youngsters dont have anyone to tell them to STFU. In this day and age of political correctness and emphasis on being cognizant of feelings, there is no mechanism for teaching the little ones. In days gone bye, youngsters 30, 40 years ago were told "shut up, watch and learn". You cant do that anymore because the little ones get their feelings hurt and go to HR. And the result is they think they know what they are doing but end up messing everything up. Thats when the finger pointing starts. "Its not my fault, its the old people's fault". So whats the answer? You could go and ask the old people that you want to get rid of (because they've probably dealt with your problem 20 times in their career).
Notice how many older employees have to fix the younger employees mistakes. GSRs have to do that for the FCDLPs everyday and believe me you would not believe how many dealers say their BDMs, analysts, etc. do not know anything referring to the FCDLPs.
@OP. Take a guess who was responsible for all of the company's successes over the last 20, 30, 40 years....... it was the people who are now older and have had to put up with a lot of bull. While you were still floating around in your daddy's nut sack, we were the ones doing the work that made this company a huge money maker. What have you accomplished? My guess is not much. So you can take your noise, your Xbox and your iced coffee frapachino and stick it in your a$$.
What a useless piece of sh*t.
You are taking up space where air could be.
GTF away!
Of the 30K some NA employees... 10K are in the GRP and 20K are in the FRP. Depending on how many transferred to Model E, it will be less targets for separation.
This year and the next 4 or 5 years there will be about 1500 per year that could walk away with a 30yr pension. The last group that is pension eligible is has about 20 yrs of service and that make sense with the GRP cut off date of Jan1 2004.
The supporting documents are available for anyone who can get to the myfordbenefits page . They are dated Jan1 2020 but I think they give a pretty good idea the wave of folks coming up thru the ranks. The big thing this shows is the pension folks can't take one for the company and everything returns to normal.
Go to the Own Your Health Tab and Look for Coverage Details and Plan Information. Then look for 5500 Reports and look for General Retirement Plan 5500 file. Lots of info to understand where you stack up. Page61 has a chart Age vs Years of Service. It is dated Jan1 2020 so you will have to do a little fuzzy math to figure where you were 2 1/2 years ago....But for the most part everything is just shifted.
Simple OP. The majority are old white folk who have no life and want to keep poc and other minorities on the outside looking in.
Some things never change smh..
Turn the Blue group into Soylent Green bars to fuel the new EV group. Perfect plan. Efficient! End this group of slackers who think Ford owes them a job for life. EV is Blue People ... Soylent Green is People... He he!
@nze We didn’t make the decision to job hop. Large corporations eliminated any benefits in staying at the same company long term to improve their numbers for Wall Street. Changing jobs sucks but it is the only way to get ahead financially.
The OP is referring to the slackers not all old men I guess.
The problem is that the vast majority of young people aren't looking for a career. They take the spot and then just leave in a year for more money. That's the way things are now. Enjoy the turnstile life. I have had a long career at Ford and look back fondly on days when it was a career company. I loved the fact that the name on the side of the building represented a family. And that always provided some security. Everything changed in the last downturn. Mullaly brought Ford back to some of it's former self, but that has all been destroyed by Hackett and Farley. And Bill is too wrapped up in wokeness to see what he is letting happen. So to all the youngsters, enjoy your careers. I hope some of you will get that blue blood running through your veins and really love the challenge and stay in it for the long haul. I will always be thankful for everything Ford Motor Company's has provided me in my life.
Can't wait until OP gets a taste of his own medicine. Karma will get him. He will age like everyone else. Anyone with that mentality does not live long.
Hey OP - follow your own advice - only leave now! You're as narrow minded as they come.
It isn't age so the person who wrote this is an id--t! We need the people with the years inwith the company for the knowledge. The younger employees should be grabbing onto the experienced to mentor. Yes I am one that is close to the 30 years but not there yet, but having 30 years doesn't mean a person should retire. It depends on age and how financially secured we are to retire. So the bashing needs to stop!!
What really needs to be done is look at who is pulling their weight not by color, gender, age.
The upper management is a very greedy group that don't want to reduce their salaries. No one should be getting millions of dollars per year for a salary, plus that high of a bonus. They need to get the same as the hourly. Why don't we all get the same as the hourly get so it's fair for all. The hourly are the people who actually produce the vehicles and are the most important people. By the way no I never was an hourly in Ford but I do have common sense!
BF has more than 40+ years, more than anyone I ever know.
Could you send him an email for the same request you have here? Once that is done, please let everyone know. And you should follow through also with your LL2 and LL3 for the same. Once these people decide to leave, your chance all the way to the top greatly increases.
Writing is important. Get someone to help with your writing.
There is old and young. It isn't about skill. It is about getting rid of pension and healthcare costs.
The LL4s with 35 years plus get huge bonuses and salaries, so they stay on. As for retirement eligible GSRs and LL6s, they might just be enjoying having all the leverage for the first time in years. Managing has very little control over them.
I will gladly leave once Jim Farley gets off his arss and shows me the money. Everybody he pushed out of the way to get to the top got a payola. Mark, Joe and Hau. He might watch his back as there were some better teleprompter readers in today’s meeting. Lisa would make a fine CEO.
Can’t wait until you reach that age and those greedy people rob you of the end of your career. Then they work out a way to stop you getting what you were banking on for your retirement, all while they sit in their big holiday homes in the villages Florida.
You have no clue what you are talking about. Typical millennial.
The solution is commnuism.
Oh you have so much to learn grasshopper.
When you can sn---h the semiconductor from my hand you will be ready.
Like any of it matters..who buys a Ford in 2022 ?
There is no OLD nor YOUNG in this game. If you have the skill the company needs, You're needed!
The Old who want to stay- be relevant. The Young who want to join- be relevant. Same edict; no age discrimination.
I'm not going to agree with OP since everyone's situation is different. But, if you have 35 years what agree you waiting for?! Celebrated a couple of LL4+s 35th anniversary before COVID. And their still there! Why? You're capped at 35 years, there are in incentives to stay past that. Go enjoy your life!!!
Nope, near retirement and untouchable. They aren't gonna risk an age discrimination case. I really do feel bad, I don't even work half a day's work anymore.
Listen I put my years in, and the company took a lot from my peak years. I've earned some golden years here and going to enjoy them. When it's your turn, you'll feel the same.
