Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

For how long will ISM be in effect?

I think this new ISM will be in effect long enough for all the long tenured employees with benefits and vacation to quit. The stores will be full of earphone wearing associates who don’t lift their eyes off their phones. I have already seen it in my local store.

My opinion is the same as yours, @1pon+1h8BDdDE

I feel they want long termers out. We are considered dead wood.

I don't see it lasting as a company-wide thing after this year. I've been with the company long enough to have seen a lot of these types of changes eventually being given up on at the store level after a few months, and then by the next year the company goes right back to the way things were. Does anyone else remember when they made everyone either full-time or flex? And then they were shocked when all of the part-timers that were forced to be flex either never wanted to work the bottom barrel hours they were offered, or found other jobs so they just brought back part-time positions.

And just a little tidbit: our old sign lead was with the company for over 40 years and at the time she retired she was only making $15 an hour.

I've been working the ISM model in my store for years without even getting the pa y bump. After our dock lead left and they never replaced him i was running the dock and doing all support work also. I was unloading and doing all of the reverse logistics, merchandising setting sales etc... get with the program people. Its a shame that the new id--ts that we hire get paid the same as me even though I've been doing twice the work for years. Im now just waiting fir the other shoe to drop.

I work in an union store and we are not doing ISM. It depends, maybe they will put it in for next contract.

Is it true that union stores are not going to ISM at this point?

This company is always coming in with something new each year. ISM is now the new routine for everyone for now. The long tenured employees needs to accept it or just leave. Macy's will hire people to replace them but still the company is getting bad to worse.

The long tenured employees are use to the same routine everyday when they go to work. This time the company wants the employees to be global to be everywhere in the store each day when they go to work.

I don't understand why they're trying to push anyone out since the stores are all an understaffed mess. At my store (non-union), they are begging for people to come work and offering them way more money than any of the long-term employees -- new hires in FOH are getting $20+ hr, visual captain is $26. And STILL no one wants to work for Macy's.

its a ploy to run everyone whos been there more than 3 years or longer out. think about it .. that one guy who worked in the stock room for 30 yrs .. they wanna unload him in a non firing way.. same goes for people been there long term on sales floor.. go to lunch and do not go back
