Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Can I volunteer?

This is not a trolling question. I've been here a little over ten years and I'm ready to leave. I don't have anything lined up yet but I do have a few irons in the fire. I would have no issues with being laid off. In fact, I would welcome it. Plus, if I volunteer, then somebody who needs this job might get to keep it. Is there a way to do this?

As a manager, I've had several people talk to me about volunteering. I always understood and sometimes could help make this happen. Every RIF is different. I'd never hurt an employee that had this conversation, just hope to be 100% honest and open with the employee about what I could and could not do for them.

Probably not unless you have a GREAT relationship with your upper management. This did happen to my dad , 30 years with HP and he was 61 when there were rumors of major cuts coming. His team was small and he was very close to the 2 guys working with him and he was already financially set in life. He made it clear to his manager if a cut was coming he hoped it was him, and it did happen that way.

You should chat with your manager. Congratulations on moving on from this dumpster fire. Your life will become less stressful and more fulfilled.
