Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Keeping people from leaving

At this point, I don't think there's anything left to keep me at CVE. I don't think this company has ever had a harder time retaining its employees?

I was laid off a year ago and decided to look at this site today to see if people are still upset after talking to an old friend who still works there. I was upset when i was laid off and felt betrayed but looking back now it was the best thing to happen. I hated my life at CVE. I was given a good severance and found a job two months later and am so happy. I tripled my severance in the stock market. The grass is a lot greener on the other side. I got a job when the market was in the toilet. The market is strong now. Make the jump and get out. You will be surprised at how good it is. Don't waste your life at CVE.

They keep saying the grass is not greener, but the ex-CVE people I talk to that left to Suncor or other producers seem much happier with less stress and hours by the sounds of it. Why did we get stuck with the lemon? I’m Not surprised that HR is concerned.

According to someone within HR, it is rough right now and will turn into a crisis with upcoming resignations and retirements in the next 20 months. If anyone was in fact thinking of applying to CVE in a specialized role, you could easily grind them for greater compensation. Heard that from a little birdie in HR.
