At the end of the 40 days (which I am guessing is July 5th), will VMware make a public announcement stating if any other company approached them and what the terms were? Even if another company was crazy enough to offer more, I assume that Broadcom would match the offer anyway but just wondered if they would actually announce it or if they would just say that the period is over and that Broadcom wins?

They only make an announcement if they accept a larger deal. Not going to happen.
