Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Did you drink too much EPIC2 Kool-Aid?

During the first all hands a few weeks ago, there were quite a few trolls and harsh messages directed at the exec team. I understand its unprofessional to do this, especially in a public forum. Saw a bunch of messages in our Slack channels denouncing this behavior - I can get behind that.

What really blows my mind however, are the Stockholm-Syndrome ridden sympathizers . There are employees whining about how "we are too quick to judge our leaders" and "we need to be more empathetic towards them as they help navigate us through this tough period". As if every board member staying up all night worrying about how hard its going to be to fire 30% of you. Couldn't be further from the truth. While you scramble to find a new job that won't treat your salary like a liability and your employment as indentured servitude, they will be making out with a cool couple million dollars in the bank. Get real people, this is every man, woman, they, them, and other for themselves. Think carefully about your position relative to the company, and stake your faith accordingly.

I knew this was completely in-character for our leadership after watching sum1t and the VP for CXS axe two of the key CS teams last year. They merged the teams together and made the remaining director gut his own team.

Lots of experts in the on-prem stack, multiple VCDXs, people who’d been with VMW 20 years who worked with our biggest, most complex SISOs and customers, tossed to the winds without a second thought.

Had a front-row seat for all of it and realised fairly quickly that EPIC2 was just a plug line to some of the executive team and they don’t care about the staff below them. Given that experience nothing about the broadcom deal surprises me.

I’m glad to be out of there and working somewhere else.

"couple a million" is VP level. SVP is significantly more. EVP and up is double digit millions.
Just to avoid misunderstandings.
Raghu is going home with $50M plus
