Not the right customer experience, 2.9 million Fords recalled

Ford Motor Company is recalling select Ford Escape, C-Max, Fusion, Transit Connect, and Ford Edge vehicles over a gear-shifting safety defect, according to Automotive News.

The defect: in affected vehicles, a damaged or missing bushing can prevent the transmission from shifting into the intended gear.

The hazards: if the transmission shifts into an unintended gear, is could cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford is aware of six reports alleging property damage from this defect, as well as 1,630 warranty reports.

Components: under hood and shift cable shift bushings.

Affected vehicles: select 2013-2019 Ford Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles.

Number of vehicles affected: 2.9 million

The fix: dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing.

Goes back to 2013…pre pandemic…which manager/chief/director is getting promoted because of it?…..because you know as well as I do they won’t get fired because of it…but mgt past and present whoever had a hand in it and is responsible should be gone immediately!

There are many bushing in a gear shifter and so it means its a manual shifter. The electronic ones wont have that problem. Possibly some issue following the pandemic.
