Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

The incompetent middle managers never seem to get laid off

Take my boss for example. Been with the bank 20+ years, team has complete turnover every few years. Doesn’t know how to do anything except micromanage, create extra work, and throw around useless spreadsheets. Couldn’t execute a proper idea to save his life, so spends all his time annoying his team with endless meetings and creating busy work that makes no sense.

Sounds like your manager? Chances are they’ll still be here while people who actually contribute are out the door.

TOS is loaded with this exact type middle management. Official meeting goers and purveyor of stupidity. Every problem has a useless spreadsheet solution. If all of them were let go, the bank would save millions and nothing would be lost. Workers would have more time because they wouldn't be attending meetings called to stroke the ego of the useless class. Never worked for a company with so many management levels.

The company knows the labor supply. Too many workers are available globally

Yet only so many positions in the country,

For example, each year there are additional 100,000 enrolled in CFA from China. All are young and most want American job with H1b and green card
