Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

When is it going to stop?

When will it be enough? I know my weekend will be anything but relaxing having to worry about what the next week will bring regarding more layoffs. Then it's the week after that and then who knows how many more. Are they intentionally trying to torture us by dragging this out like this?

Guys, the way this company lays off should not be news to anyone who's been here for at least few years. The entire length of time I've been here this is how they have done it. They do much smaller layoffs, but quite a few of them every single year. This is to avoid the media attention, so they again avoid negative public attention.

You want proof? Look back on this site for at least 5 or 6 yeas, you will see the layoffs, very consistent. Most we do not even hear about from US Bank. We hear from word of mouth. Quite a few layoffs that have happened in recent years I have only heard about from being in management meetings, and even then its because the people I was meeting with had heard of the layoffs through the grapevine.

To everyone saying its unethical.....how exactly? I am in no way standing up for the bank, but exactly how is them laying off unethical? They have automated so many of the functions here, they HAVE to layoff. They will never have a need for all of these positions again. Most of these positions don't even make the bank money, so if there is a cheaper way of doing the work, automation. why wouldn't they? They have a profit margin to maintain, and the last few years everything has been worse for banks, and also just so happened this bank has been working on automation prior to covid.

Not one job here is safe, from a few steps below Andy and all the way down. Not management, not worker bees. You know its happening. You know its been happening for years and years, start looking, its a matter of time.

I couldn't agree more. If it's only business and necessary for the longevity of the company fine. But where's the transparency? Why is it being done as a shadow operation? Why the secrecy? There's a call notifying the intended targets, then they have what, 2 months before their last day. Last week they laid off different departments on different days. Why not just share the plan? Or at least what's already happened? What would the harm be in that? I found it very ironic that Celebrating our Legends was front and center on USB home page today. What a display of needless expense when cutting people to save costs.

I was let go on Wednesday and was told there are more lay offs to come in the coming months.

Layoffs at the bank are always secret, secret. People just disappear. It sometimes takes awhile to see someone has left because it's never discussed. Transparent, my a$$. If they sent out an email prior to the people leaving, would be transparent. Provide a list of everyone let go and reasons why.

I couldn’t stand the constant anxiety of possibly being laid off. No one is safe, everyone is replaceable. This is why I chose to leave the bank!!

Very shady they tout transparency and then have a call to let people know there job has been eliminated but don’t tell anyone!!! The most ethical company who cares about their employees. Union Bank shouldn’t merge with this unethical couldn’t care less about the employees.

It’s hard to tell since they keep everything hush hush… they didn’t even announce who was laid off from the team this week but we were told people were let go. No names were given so we had to figure it out on our own. Crazy and shady way of doing things.
