Empty promises

I've had enough. At the previous company, management also gave empty promises to employees, but here it is on a whole other level. How many times have you heard an empty promise from your manager? I gave myself a deadline to leave this misery in no more than two months.

This is crazy. That is what I heard too! And I actually believe it at first...until all after all those 24/7 efforts and still nothing but more promises and excuses.

The best thing is to say it with your feet. Search, find, interview and just leave Citi in the dust.

Said in another post but it applies here as well.

You’re fist mistake is thinking that Citi cares about you. You are an asset to be traded, used and discarded as they see fit. Management even attends classes on how to manage you. “Managing” you isn’t necessarily taking care of things to make things good for you but rather how to squeeze as much out of you as possible while paying you as little as possible.

All but the last comment. If you apply and get hired for another role, they can’t/won’t block you. Best they can do is negotiate with the other manager to extend your transition a few weeks.

Nothing new here. Pretty much the Citi standard. The playbook is to tell you anyone of the following:
“I tried to get you that raise\bonus\promotion\whatever but HR put a block on it. My hands are tied”. The reality is, they never tried.

“You meet this aggressive deadline and it’ll look really good for your end of year bonus”. The reality is they are going to tell the statement above.

“Yes, I’d let you go to this other team but the business needs you”. The reality is, is that they are never going to let you go.
