Trying to be promoted in order to make a little more - and thus increase the likelihood that you will become the target of some of the future layoffs, does not make much sense.
It's as though they've decided to demoralize their employees. The lesson I learned from all the layoffs here - don't try too hard and stay here as short as possible.
