Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Not having any power over whether I'll keep my role

There is no way for an employee to try to keep their job here. This is what, along with the uncertainty, demoralizes me the most here.
What’s the point of giving your best and having great performance when we all know it’s not the decisive factor for layoffs? Morale is zero.

You may have some power over it, you may not. (Which sucks.) Focus on finding whatever is next. It will make you feel like you’ve taken some of the control back (and you will be!)

This is sad but true. I know many who do the bare minimum or lack the competence to be a high performer yet are never laid off. Part of it is many of the low performers earn less as they don’t get promotions or are hired in at a lower pay grade as they have less skills.

Well, your collegues will know and over time many will end up at other places or even leadership roles at US Bank. Your reputation as a good worker won't be forgotten by then. So it might mean other opportunities here or somewhere else.

I think the best thing to do is learn as much as you can and gain as many marketable skills as you can while you are here.
