Managers desperately need management training

If those in charge think it's a good idea to promote employees with zero people skills to managerial positions then they need to also provide them with management training (or better management training, in case it already exists). Lesson one? Yelling at people will not get them to do things faster/better. Lesson two? If your employee has been successfully performing a task for years before you entered the picture, assume they'll continue to perform it successfully and stop trying to fix something that isn't broken. Micromanagement is annoying at best, and a productivity ki---r at worse. And so on.

Why does every company now have 'leaders'???? We didn't have any of these 5 years ago 😁😁😁😁😁😁

If I hear one more video or forum mentioning they are attending “leadership training” (we are changing & listening), I think I’ll vomit.

If this mess is what they get from this training, then they are either throwing their money away hiring incompetent trainers, or these “leaders” are refusing to listen and change.
Either way, they will run us into the ground.

Just because you underperform, does not mean we are toxic. Look in the mirror and seriously reflect upon yourself, your capabilities and your true bandwidth. See it from that perspective which is the one your leadership views you in.

The leadership culture training has helped to weed out a lot of the toxic managers, but there are still some who remain. They leave a wake of bodies in their path both from current and future attrition, but they perform well enough in their accomplishments that upper management turns the blind eye to the shortcomings in the people side.

Multiple HiPos were recently promoted into positions where they have zero experience and true leadership qualities. I seen nothing that suggest the company has any interest in changing course….

Welcome to ExxonMobil where we put people in management roles who know nothing about the jobs they oversee, or care to learn. In addition, promote employees due to "personal likeness" vs work ethics, true leadership and values. I'm curious to know what management discusses in these "leadership" trainings? The only thing I see are individuals who mess over people time after time and get rewarded with a higher position, overseeing more people.

Prior to the internal merging that recently occured, EM talked about creating more opportunities. However, the same bad management got promoted/transitioned to these newly developed roles, overseeing a broader range of personnel. I'm trying to understand how that made us more competitive?

Actually, the company doesn't follow their own core values, but nobody wants to have that discussion. Lets proceed to operate the same way and continue to wonder why everyone is leaving.

Obviously, not every single manager is bad, but you get the overall point.
