And by that, I mean being personal friends with any of them, not simply acquaintances? If the answer is no, then you can kiss any chance of a promotion goodbye, no matter how much work you do. I've stopped trying. Now I do what I have to and that's it. I have no intention of giving it my all when the only reward I get is a pat on the back.

@frx+1htrjDnv Good boy! Here’s a $100 gift card to Chinazon. Keep telling yourself that when someone two levels above you does half the work, has half the experience, but makes twice the pay. I hope telling yourself hard work is the reward is working, good coping mechanism. I guess the world has always had peasants, serve the king.

What happens is if you are on the management track, you will be assigned a mentor and told. You will be handed the good, developmental high profile assignments. Typically, if you were an FCG you are on this track. Otherwise, you may need to look outside the company to maximize your promotion potential.

Word. The extra curricular activities play a larger role in one’s advancement. In addition to other criteria (those which promote DEI). Merit is dead at this company. Like picture a cattle skull in the desert dead. You could be the person who moves the needle, comes up with the most clever ideas, even save the company money. However, at the end of the day as op said it does not matter. Take note of what your bosses do and mimic. You will find you work less, and have no accountability. That is the pervasive culture that goes all the way to the top. Blame and disown, report green when glowing red, etc.
