Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Do these 3 things to stand out in a new job and impress your boss, IBM’s top HR exec says

It's no coincidence that Nickle is broadcasting this advice right before the beginning of 3Q. . .

What a load. She acts like the goal of every new hire / employee is to become the next CEO. News Flash.....it's just a job for 99.5% of us.

I have always eaten lunch alone, and recommend it. Sorry, but people don't want to talk about career advancement or give career advice. It's the last thing they want to talk about. Lunch groups are cliques, and lunch conversation is typically sophomoric trash and gossip about who's sleeping with who, and stupid parties or whatever people did over the weekends. And these days, I would never go to lunch one on one with anyone, especially a woman.

Don't be afraid to speak up in meetings and this and that, but she says zero about controlling the loudmouths and bullies and aholes that exist everywhere for the most part.

And she's doing a great job. They didn't hire new people for a long long time, such that now the work force population is extremely top heavy with retirement eligible people with 30 - 40+ years service. And they can't retain the new hires they do hire. And now the "Great Resignation" is hitting them hard. And you know they are sitting there wanting to play the "No more WFH" card but they haven't since they fear the consequences.

This is classic IBM silo management Protect the silo you work for. IBM has always been inwardly management focused (arrogant management style) and it has buried them. Now here is a breath of fresh air AK has told management “feed the AI, Hybrid cloud, LINUX SW modernization, and enterprise consulting” machine or you will be gone

The last time I shared an idea with management the response was "This will undermine Power hardware revenues". The fact that it would create 5x to 10x more software revenue than it would cost was irrelevant.

I also treasure the time I was told by a mid-level Cloud manager, "If this is such a good idea, Amazon and Google would be doing it already".

This woman (Nickel-Bag LaMoron) is very arrogant, intellectually lazy, and just not terribly bright ... same thing with every other IBM Manager I've met in the last few years 🤔

I actually came here to share the link to the article and highlight "Don’t be afraid to share your ideas" which is the thing #1 I tell people to avoid doing. There are some situations where you can practice "Don’t be afraid to share your ideas" and that in all cases involve having friendly group surrounding you

IBM has made the wild duck extinct. Docile chickens rule the roost.

"Don’t be afraid to share your ideas"

Yeah, that usually goes really well at IBM... either your boss will still your idea and get credit for it, or your idea will put you in the dog house, then mostly likely you will be RAed.

IBM is the worst company to share your ideas.
