Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Is this the new norm?

Since when is it okay to put people on ignore after several rounds of interviews? I can understand not getting a reply to an application, but after both of us took time out on several days for interviews, isn't it just common courtesy to let me know that I didn't get a job instead of just ignoring me? This has happened to me twice and I'm getting tired of it.

I made it to final interview for like 6 jobs and was ghosted by EVERY one of them. I’m also a top performer so it’s a bit of a slap in the face.

I wouldn't say it's due to the current environment. This has been going on for years for both internal and external applicants even before the pandemic. A friend knew someone who made it thru three interviews then silence. Another was told an interview would be scheduled with the hiring manager after the second interview with a recruiter (first one was moved to another LOB)…crickets.

Wish I could say too many applicants was a factor. I was told by the hiring manager that they weren’t getting enough applicants. Inexperience & being swamped with work are excuses! Stop telling people during interviews that you’ll hear back directly from them or the recruiter (whether they extend the offer or not) if that’s not feasible for you. A simple automated email declining the job opportunity should be part of their job. I’ve put in many applications at other companies and I’ve either gotten an invite, an offer, or a declination letter. No frill, no fuss, just an email telling me they aren’t interested. Being ignored while simultaneously telling associates that the company cares about career development is BS.

Look, it can explained by looking at the labor supply of the occupation.

For example we have around 500K financial analysts in the country according to BLS. Another 1.2 million in software dev.

Someone important in DC decides it is a good idea to import 85K each year mostly in these 2 hottest occupations.

You and I are probably ignored because there are other 50 applicants?

Recruiters are very inexperienced. Happens too often they don’t communicate back to the candidates.
