I'm not sure how they made any "Best Employer" list. My experience with them in the 1.5 years I worked there was disappointing. Between an inept manager and really ugly comments from other teams I had to work with, I was miserable. The whole team was. I "think" there are better areas within the organization, but I don't know where they are at. I was laid off. Had no idea it was coming. My manager pulled me into some call under bs pretenses and then told me some garbage about "market conditions, blah, blah." I had 10 minutes to try to wrap up my work and notify my coworkers who were waiting for me in a meeting, before my access was taken away. Seriously bad treatment considering I had just spent my weekend working to get a deck done for an upcoming meeting. Very one-sided on the "family" bs they try to pander. At the end of the day, they really don't give a $$it about their employees. There are better places to work, don't waste your time with them.

Happened to me several years ago, after 19+ years. Same way - no warning, network access cut in minutes. If it’s a “family” it’s very dysfunctional with no manager trusting any employee.
Just kidding. It’s not a family at all, never was, except for the Kennedy family.
A family doesn’t kick you to the curb and pretend they never knew you.
I believe that this organization twists the kn--e by talking about the first american family just creepy.
My cousin got pulled into a meeting too and was also told about 'market conditions'. She didn't see it coming either. I don't know how she kept it together (she's currently pregnant but not far along) but she did.
Her access was revoked quickly too.
Many of those good employees did not speak up about the management. Employees talked and the walls had ears. I believe most people who worked there would come to the conclusion that it wasn't worth it.
It’s a sh-t place to work anyway and I’m not sure how it gets awarded best places to work… Those are usually that most toxic places. A lot of really great people got laid off this week which is very unfortunate especially when there’s so much toxic sh---y executives there that need to go.
Seems like you are talking about the Maricopa direct division? So much anger and hate for so many years, why was it allowed to fester?
Take it as a blessing. Many of their long-term employees including branch managers will say the same things. They have to be "yes men" that smile and hug in meetings, where else would they work? Walmart? Day care centers? The yes man managers and employees create a horrible dynamic.
I worked there as a contractor in the IT group for just a few weeks then got a full time offer at another organization. I had just been laid off from Pacific Life as part of their “send all IT jobs outsourced and offshored” project.
My reasons for taking the other offer were I noticed the IT department was MASSIVE and the new CIO Geraldine came from Toyota where they spent a decade cutting and outsourcing.
It looks like that never happened but I just couldn’t shake that sense I was walking into the same situation. I’ve read that FA lays off swiftly any time market conditions change.
