Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Massive Layoffs are Being Planned to fill

The giant gap in cash flow due to poor planning and execution. "Timing of Customer Payments" can be interpreted many ways and Wall Street didn't buy that nonsense. ATT is losing money on the top line because the business they had planned on either went away or didn't materialize. They still have no grasp on this. Network was ignored for many years while Stevenson and Stankey chased their disastrous dreams and now that strategy is yielding business to competition. They will lay off as many as they can for a quick fix and then the dividend will be chiseled at. They are like a suburbia family up to their eyeballs in debt and the husband just got layed off.

always layoffs at att always seem to have to get down to a number of employees but never get there for some strange reason,

guess they have to keep people to work any union strike.

That's how it is in my OOR organization, most of the work being completed before lunch and then nothing to do afterwards. Pretty much full-time pay for a part-time workload!
Not complaining or bragging, just don't know how T can afford this during what is considered to be crunch time! Especially, when they say that there will definitely not be any layoffs in the technician ranks!

My department doesn’t have shiitake to do. Work is done way before lunch. And we’re in an office that they won’t allow to work from home so we’re stuck just sitting at our desks all day. They could get rid of half of us without a burden being put on those that were left. Waste of money for AT&T but oh well.

In my area there is a huge exodus planned. In my department we have people planning to leave, and in the group I’m on loan to has more than half the people plus the manager leaving voluntarily. They are looking to lose an average of 130 to 180k on their lump sum with the interest rates going up. Overall that may mitigate a lot of layoffs. In my region that last big hiring was in 2000. The lowest senior people are in single digits until they get their 30 years.many were hired in their 30’s and will be at their 75 or soon will be at their 75 for early retirement. Eventually we will have to start hiring off the street. Then I guess we’ll need to install safe space rooms, allow emotional support animals, constant praise and trophies. Then the You Matter campaign will start up again 🤣

My team isn’t working very hard sad to say, approx 20-25 hours per week per technician and we will not be impacted by any layoffs! We definitely should be downsized, but won’t and it ki--s me to know this! Doesn’t management see the very low productivity numbers every month? Can’t upper management put 2 and 2 together to realize certain organizations aren’t as busy as they’re mislead to believe? Is the C-suite that clueless! No wonder why this company has too many mouths to feed. Middle management must be good at cooking the books!

Lots of AT&T workers worry about layoffs because they know they aren't working very hard and the company would get the work done without them. They are just hiding behind the union and underperforming.

People like you make me glad I have a savings account that will endure a strike. You think you are special? The company doesn't give a phuck about you. You will get strike duty many miles from home and for weeks at a time, staying in a ro--h motel and YOU WILL LIKE IT.

Actually it's net 90 that AT&T pays vendors

Timing of payments? Really! That’s such a red herring considering that no one in the c-suite pays for any AT&T services. Actually most of the personal expenses of those in the c-suite are paid by the company. On top of all that AT&T pays it’s vendors net-45 days. Those that do business with AT&T have to wait 45 days for payment.

This website is nothing more than speculation! Employees come on here and articulate their gut without supporting facts! Don't believe anything here because a lot of it is wishful thinking by those that would like to be laid-off!The senior employees are hoping for a severance package while the younger employees are hanging on for dear life!

Layoffs will begin as soon as possible because T needs to get itself back on track immediately after the 2nd Qtr results. The capital investment in fiber is still underway and that will remain. There are a lot of unnecessary employees on the payroll, T knows this and is evaluating the big picture as we speak! T will begin to streamline its operation and reduce operating costs overall.

I have seen a few times people saying the dividend will be cut again. There is no way that happens because if they did everyone will drop the stock and it will completely collapse. AT&T will file bankruptcy before they drop the dividend again. I do agree though that layoffs are coming. I think they may wait until 1st quarter next year but there's no way we avoid layoffs now.
