Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Staffing issues remain a major issue

When is Verizon going to do something about the staffing issues in the corporate stores? So many people are out on short term either due to covid or whatever , sick calls are through the roof. Factor in all the vacation time and it’s a recipe for disaster. The stress and morale in the stores is bad. At the very least Verizon should go to a one shift format. This would be a start to a huge issue going into Q4. Many people have talked about it on here. Listen to your frontline employees for once.

Leadership losers can upvote downvote whatever they want. At the end of the day, the union was still approved and leadership is still buthurt about it

We get it. You can open an incognito tab and vote as much as you want. Super pathetic going through and doing that on your post n*utsacks. You're clearly anti union and there's one of you doing that on every pro union ir negative about Verizon comment.

What is worse a shortage if elployees or them hiring rookies at higher pay just to fill the positions like another post mentions? VZ doesnt seem to be in a good spot.

Leadership hates the union because it highlights so many of their incompetencies.

Incompetency in controlling their employees.

Incompetentcy in providing a desirable workplace.

Incompetentcy in leadership because people won't follow them and chose another leadership. They especially hate this, it grates in their narcissistic tendencies.

Have you seen the people they are hiring. Nice people but what are they going to do when these outrageous expectations hit them.

Union would make it not a feat of God to get your hours adjusted

Yes you need to unionize all stores to have any leverage.

The stores that went union didn't get anything related to staffing. Got a contract real quick with no wins and absolutely nothing to address staffing. Worthless

Why would anyone want to work in a store? Having rude customers breathe their diseased breath all over your face while handing you their disgusting petri dish of a phone. Plus you get to work nights and weekends. Hard pass...says the world.

Until they properly compensate for sales and/or ditch the team sales I could care less what the plan is. Because the plan will be to do as little as possible, clock out, and go home.

It’s tough right now. It going to be a bad holiday season. Probably going to see a lot of people walk off the job like we did last year. We have been pestering our director and DMs as to what the plan is. Their response is the same, we have no plan. Our store have been 10-6 all year Which helps but is still hard running 1 manager and 2 reps. Us managers have became reps just to avoid good sales from walking.

Open hours 10-6 or 9-5, we should have DMV hours. With all the outlets to buy a phone today and the amount of trash that comes into retail these days. Verizon won't do it though. Too good of a idea. They are probably trying to figure out how to keep us open 24/7.

What would be the hours for one shift? 11-8?

I’m surprised the one shift concept hasn’t been put into action yet. The stores that went union and are currently in union talks all bring the lack of staffing up. One shift helps to alleviate things but it’s not the only solution. I imagine seeing stores hours change and more converting to indirect in the coming months.

One shift and eliminate Sundays would free up so much staffing flexibility while staffing concerns remain.
