Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Things are bad, but not that bad

We're getting new employees all the time. If things were as bad as some are presenting them to be, we'd have much more trouble hiring. We're currently the same as any other large company in our industry. Not worse, not better. People should realize that before they quit to join a competitor that'll turn out to be exactly the same. Only they now won't have their seniority anymore.

Every major auto insurance company the worst possible job you could have is claims. Every company.

Is Allstate worse? You bet. But we are comparing turds against eachother.

Every insurance company, during hiring, will only tell you how life is your first 6 months as a handler. Never will they explain life at 2years, which is the same at every insurance company, youll have the work load of 3 people with little support.

I honestly feel the entire industry is expecting to not need handlers moving forward, and thus treats them like disposable trash. They need to stick unmotivated college students into a claim handler role for a few months to motivate them to learn a real skill while in college, less this be your life the next 40 years ect.

Bottom line, Allstate, IMO, is the worst out there, but its competitors are pretty bad as well, just not as.

We are hiring bc HR is manipulating job posting sites. I had a new hire tell me he came here bc indeed stated great work life balance. He lasted 3 months and quit due to overload

There’s almost zero investment in the employees. I’ve been at a new carrier for 8 months and I’ve had more meetings with my leader, with his leader, and that leader’s leader than I had in 13 years with Allstate. They care about your experience and how it can be made better. They ask about your career goals and help you put a plan together. Never had any of that at All.

yes there is hiring, but they are not replacing each employee that is leaving and just because they are hiring doesn't mean layoffs aren't around the corner. During the last round we had a few people that had only been with us 6 months that were laid off.

I quit and went to a competitor. Best decision I ever made. Less stress, more money and actual competent management.

Other companies have more compassion and encourage relationships within the employee base. Allstate is not that way. They don’t really care about the people working there. They have bots for trainers and secretive agendas to offshore more. Other insurance companies do better in this regard and are more truthful. Allstate corporate needs emotional intelligence training.

Agree with the poster. I'm in asdu, however I think the bad department is claims. I had some coworkers switch to claims in the past and almost all of them hated it and quit. However, I already knew claims was bad regardless of insurance company. Think about it. Your talking to people on one of their worst days after an accident, theft, or bad event. In asdu we just help the agent with the policy. It's not bad at all. Finally the last comment. My friend went to progressive thinking it would be better and she disliked it more and quit. Insurance is all pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong. If you can get more money or better position switch. However, if your just making a lateral switch thinking it will be much better it likely won't. If it's a different industry outside insurance then of course make the switch if that makes you happy

Yes I completely agree with the OP. It’s Monday! For all complaining, it’s all about changing your disposition. It’s a new week! Work with a positive attitude! The customers will hear the smile in your voice and this new outlook may even spill over into your home life.
