Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

One thing is almost certain

Almost no one regrets leaving Dell. That's why I'm surprised by those who are hesitant about whether to accept a solid offer when they get it or stay here for a while longer?

I was happy at Dell and completely shocked when on a 1:1 I was laid off, being one of the few to hit quota and being security cleared I knew it was personal, so I took the money and left. I know earn about $80k more, enjoy the job even more. The icing on the cake was the manager that did the dirty on me was busted to the ranks when Tell Dell came out. It was a country record low score.

Dell managers have their methods of spreading the Kool aid to make you feel you are lucky to work at Dell. Meh!

Depends on the team. Sadly good Dell leaders left years ago. Leaving Dell was the best decision I’ve ever made: I’m paid more and treated like a human with respected boundaries.

Leaving was scary but the fact that Dell was starting to feel like a cult that I was stuck in forever because it was familiar (yet abusive) was another great reason to get out.

Never underestimate inertia and the fear of the unknown. People stay at Dell becuase they may be unhappy, but they know what to expect. Leaving for another job is scary because it could get worse or not work out. Also, people make relationships at work and those can be hard to leave. Also, to the other poster's point, it really depends where you are in the business as far as treatment. But, what I can tell you, dysfunctional and toxic behavior are more tolerated at Dell than anyother place I have ever been.

Because how happy you are with Dell depends on what you are doing and how you are being treated. Dell is huge. The teams I work with are more than happy. There are absolutely some bad managers or poor strategy ideas. But guess what. Same thing happens at AWS, Google, HPE, etc. Giant corporations all have politics, the boys club, bullsh-t bureaucracy. You have to decide if where you are works for you. If it doesn't then move on. If it works for others then get over yourself.
