Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Not Much Getting Done

It appears I'll be one of the survivors. My manager is giving me new assignments that stretch out past the end of the calendar year, so that may be a good sign. But I've noticed something this week. It's not a surprise to those of us who have been through a major layoff cycle before. But just in case HR is monitoring, I throw it out there.

Nothing is getting done this week, as least in my little corner of the world. Meetings cancelled and not rescheduled. Requests for assistance going unanswered. That sort of thing. Seems like everyone is frozen by fear of the unknown future and unable to move forward. If true, that is directly related by a lack of communication from management at any level. I wonder how long this paralysis will last.

Only people in Oracle that are safe right now are the thousands of parasite lawyers, HR teams and anyone in a security role (regardless of how incompetent they are and believe me, there are many of those, especially in corporate)

I hear that even the managers did not see this coming. That would explain their silence. They have no idea what to say.

We had staff meeting. My Director mentioned nothing.
Will wait for next week's staff to see if my Director remains passive.

True. Everyone is waiting around for someone to say something. Management seems to have gone on radio silence toward the entire workforce.

My manager alluded to that same last week. If you are safe now you may not be safe next week or next month. Approach your work accordingly. Do the bare minimum to get by until the pendulum swings your way.

Just because you are getting projects does not mean you are staying. Safra's spreadsheets change everyday, and no one is safe at the company.
