Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

HSE is useless and out of control

Long time lurker, first time posting. The theme at my particular branch of Honeywell seems to be to clean up after the fact and act like you're actually making changes. The HSE department is particularly great at accomplishing this prerogative. From an operations standpoint, the limited knowledge they have of what long term sustainability takes, is unimaginable. With the conflicting goals they're given by corporate HSE, they ultimately impede any actual improvements to best health, safety, and environmental practices in operating highly hazardous process. Countless hours of extravagant release calculations, while day to day leaks and basic mechanical integrity are shirked off or entirely ignored. And when something truly goes wrong, and the underlying symptoms become apparent, a sign off sheet that you understand the requirements of over a thousand SOPs is all that's done. I'm reaching my last straw with Honeywell HSE. After working here for 3 years, and observing all the maligned practices described here, this could spell the end of my time with Honeywell.

HSE is a simple legal defense strategy in case someone loses a limb or life and on Monday morning they are found ripe from a 3rd shift weekend incident

Strictly for the optionless, strictly for the valueless. The ho-e is to be avoided and shunned by all else.
