Normal attrition will care for any excess headcount at VZ. No need to worry about layoffs. The elimination of 13K last year really helped to reduce headcount.

Attrition? No one is leaving. Why should they if they think the company will pay them to leave.
Attrition helps, but you still need to hire fresh blood. There needs to be a complete review of the entire org by an outside HR firm. VZHR is way to selective in applying policies they claim are on the books. Why are there Directors with <10 total employees? You cut the fat at that level, save money and jobs.
Hello, 13k, is a rather small number because last year should have been 25k+ of RIFs. Need for EPS, to beat the bottom line, therefore in aggregate of 30k+ RIFs, to sustain the quarterly stock dividend. And more important to keep paying the bond, principal and dividend. Loss of wireless customers is diminishing returns for the top line growth accretive to the EPS bottom line.
