Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Finally got promoted

Finally got promoted to Claims Adjuster, something I had already been doing for more than 2 years without the pay and title. Optum Puerto Rico is a joke. Can't believe I'm only getting paid .40 more cents than what I was making. Love these type of wage increases by companies who are tax exempt!!

"Quiet firing" is precisely what happened to my brother and me back when we worked together at nightmare US company. We went "above and beyond" for years with false promises of raises, promotions, and time off while understaffed and in terrible working conditions.

It wasn't worth it.

My brother got out first, managing to reverse his burnout after only three months. It took a severe skin infection caused by one of the American manager's last cut corners before we came to my senses. We discovered the hard way that the food-safe sanitizer fluid I was cleaning food surfaces with wasn't sanitizer. It was a dangerous corrosive. They have joke "medical insurance" and only allowed bare minimum, no pay, time off to heal either.

When we realized my manager at the time would just kick our dead bodies to check if we were not faking it and then only call the ambulance to get my corpse out of the way or if a customer complained. We vowed to never go back to that disgusting capitalistic place. It took 5 weeks to beat back the infection and far longer to beat US burnout. We may be making peanuts freelancing right now, but we have my health and sanity back.

You can't put a price on that. And bc this place is so rancid, would suggest leaving permanently it's only gonna get much worse.

The reason why your 40 cent per hour 'increase' was permitted, was bc there are very few if any employment rights/laws like in practically every other real country in the world. THe US empire was and is a complete cesspool.
