Why does SF feel the need to build and maintain monster buildings in this day and age? In addition to the agent offices, there are huge buildings taking up space (Atlanta, for example)?

So all the elites and leaders can use the exclusive only park and make SF look like a community helper. Theatrics are everything inn marketing. At policyholder expense.
OP is a youngster. When this was a great industry leader for real, it had something like 28 Regional offices, and local Claims offices everywhere.
I know things are different now. They are not better.
So your premise is even though 4 of the top 5 company executives are CPAs they are ignoring building related expenses?

State Farm builds the buildings, sells them, and leases them back for 30+ years. It benefits SF tax wise and they lose nothing. Because they don’t own the buildings they aren’t responsible for maintaining them.
The new owner of the buildings likely isn’t losing any sleep either because they have a long term tenant and the buildings are prime real estate in a prime location.
Agents are independent contractors. SF has nothing to do with their buildings.
