Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Is it that bad to work here?

Is Boeing really that bad? I would love the opportunity build a long career with the company. Why so much hate? They build beautiful aircraft and the workers seem to be compensated well with all kinds of benefits.

Its a great place to work, most of the people on here complaining are disgruntled laid off employees, or disgruntled employees who wont make efforts to move up in the company.
Fact: Boeing has been in business over 100 years and survived all the events of those 100 years.
Fact: You can make $100,000-$180,000 a year without being a manager or have a college degree.
Fact: A hater/haters will probably bash me for posting that I'm a happy Boeing employee who appreciates the job.
You miss 100% of the shot you do not take, so apply and dont let negative group thinking influence you.

Do you want to work for this incompetent dinosaur of a company ? Just look at the news about Boeing today, just one day.

  1. Airbus Wins $4.8 Billion China Jet Order in Blow to Boeing
  2. Boeing to pay $200 million to settle charges it misled investors following 737
    Max crashes, SEC says
  3. Raytheon Beats Lockheed, Boeing for $1 Billion Hypersonic Cruise Missile

Don’t do it. If you are an IAM employee your skills will not transfer to anything else outside of Boeing. You will be stuck taking low paying manufacturing jobs once you get laid off. It’s best to just get into a union apprenticeship in a construction trade. A journeyman ticket will allow you to work anywhere in the country. You will make more money and probably have a pension. Good luck.

Lots of bullying. If you like that, go for it, it's at all levels of management...

The products are interesting and the scope of work isn’t like something you would experience in most industries. But it’s not a great company to work for anymore.

No hate...just the honest truth. Unfortunately the truth is no longer held in high esteem in US. Corruption and fascism is taking over. The side who aways scared you about the other side taking away all your rights and your g-ns will be the side that actually does this once they create a dictatorship. Dictatorships don't give their population much rights... Ironic, eh...enjoy US!

No, Boeing hasn't built anything great for a long long time. Boeing designs are old and obsolete and their manufacturing is shoddy and unsafe. And Boeing leadership has treated employees badly for a long long time which ultimately destroyed the company. To think Boeing will return to greatness is delusional at best and this is most likely just more leadership BS at worst to hide the sad reality of next year's impending bankruptcy. So if you are wise, don't waste your time working at Boeing and don't even go into aerospace if you have a choice. There are so many other careers that are way more fulfilling and way more lucrative too.

Boeing does build great aircraft and the benefits of working there are substantial. Yes, there is significant room for improvement. Everyone who works there has an obligation to help in that area. Some people would rather come here and flame the company and downvote reasonable posted all to he-l, perhaps because they have nothing else to offer.

You're either very naïve, work for HR, or have had your head buried in the sand for the last several years. Boeing is circling the drain and it's not the company it once was. If you want to work in aerospace and defense, there are plenty of options besides Boeing - Lockheed, Raytheon, Spirit, Airbus, Northrup, P&W, etc.

Yeah, go find out for yourself... If you don't get burned out from the inept and corrupt leadership, you will eventually be forced to leave and carry the guilt of being pressured to do things that that were wrong and ended up ki----g the flying public. Boeing has been a toxic place to work if you are a hardworking, honest person.

Not recommended. They will be reducing workforce soon. The fed needs to slow the economy. I’ve seen people get layoff notices their first week. Just go get into a real career. If you love airplanes go get an A&P license and work for the airlines.

The more loyalty you have for Boeing The more likely you will be laid off. They basically engage in wage discrimination. Where the more you make the more likely you are to be laid off unless you are an executive.
